Customer and Volunteer Awards 2023

Home Group’s Customer and Volunteer Awards are how we celebrate the customers and volunteers who inspire others through their achievements and contributions to their communities.
Here are our well-deserved winners from this years’ awards:
Christine Pattinson
Volunteered at Distington Club for young people for over 24 years, supporting a team of 12 volunteers. She is passionate about making sure young people have access to opportunities and puts so much effort into helping her local community.
Ben Lloyd
Volunteers in his community as a welfare assistant and peer mentor at his local homeless night shelter. He volunteers for adult social care and is working with the Care Quality Commission carrying out inspections. Ben also works with Oxford Health who run the local forensic mental health services in Milton Keynes.
Paul Duell
Goes above and beyond as a mentor to other customers at the service, helping them to engage with the service and getting them signed up for support with local drug and alcohol services. The work he has done is life changing for the customers involved.
Shelly Goode
Started doing voluntary work with a local support provider working with vulnerable people on their recovery journey. Shelly has now secured a permanent role with a drug and alcohol service, this allows her to use her own lived experience to improve the lives of others.
Jill Perks
Is the driving force for big changes to the south leasehold retirement viewpoint team and complaints scrutiny group. She empowers customers to take ownership and control of their meetings. She is a skilled chairperson who can manage the most challenging conversations with ease and kindness.
Jo Davey
Gets involved in all the groups held at the service and in the community, she always supports other customers to participate and makes them feel included. She recently got a volunteer position in a local nursing home and supports the residents with music therapy. Jo has also given a talk about her mental health diagnosis to students at Suffolk University.
Wendy Pain and Heather Stockley
An amazing pair who brighten up everyone’s day. They make life more fun and easier for others by running a weekly breakfast club, tuck shop and other social activities. They also help other customers with shopping when their families are unavailable.
Robyn Inglis
Is part of the Scotland viewpoint team, a customer assessor, a member of customer forum and has spoken to the Scotland board. Robyn has participated in fire safety, rent consultations and challenges poor service delivery. She is a true ambassador for customers in Scotland and has recently been made a customer board member for Scotland too.
Sheila Foster
Is part of the Scotland viewpoint team, a customer assessor, a member of customer forum and has spoken to the Scotland board.
